Fred again.. in Singapore
Fred again.. released his first Actual Life album in 2021, a deeply personal body of work built from a collage of everyday moments: YouTube clips, FaceTime calls, and voice notes from friends. As Fred chronicled real life in real time, a community formed around his ability to find beauty and meaning in the ordinary.
Between 2021 and 2022, he released three Actual Life albums, with Actual Life 3 earning him his first UK Top 5 album and a Mercury Prize nomination. In 2023, Fred opened the year teaming up with Skrillex and grime legend Flowdan on the Skrillex single “Rumble” — first previewed during Fred’s Boiler Room debut in the summer of 2022. That same month, Fred, Skrillex, and Four Tet played a run of surprise London pop-ups, culminating in a historic, sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in New York. Over 19,000 tickets sold out in under 10 minutes. Just weeks later, the trio closed out Coachella’s final night, performing for 125,000 people in-person and millions more via livestream and YouTube replays.
Fred pushed boundaries even further in 2024. From headlining a sold-out show at the LA Memorial Coliseum — performing to over 77,000 people in what became the largest standalone electronic music headline show in U.S. history — to spontaneous sunset sets in Mexico City skateparks, surprise gigs at the Sydney Opera House, and an intimate, ambient piano performance at Glastonbury’s Strummerville, Fred’s live shows became increasingly unpredictable and unforgettable. He followed up with a string of impromptu piano sets across Europe, including a local pub in Somerset, a barge in Copenhagen with JOY (Anonymous), and a lakeside performance in Athens with SOAK. He wrapped up 2024 with a sold-out North American tour, playing in cities he’d never visited before — including Denver, Salt Lake City, Buffalo, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Toronto. To close out the year, he released 2024 — an 18-minute film capturing behind-the-scenes moments, live footage, unreleased collaborations, and heartfelt snapshots of a whirlwind year. Highlights include an unreleased harp-and-vocal cover of Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” with Romy — a fitting finale to a year defined by spontaneity, connection, and creativity.
